If you are reading these lines, it is because you want to build an online business…
You might even want your life to look like this:
You want to find THE good idea and then the money will come automatically, automatically, every month.
You’re looking for the next technique that will make you a millionaire without lifting a finger.
So you watch videos that teach you how to make $100/day by copying and pasting, running a dropshipping ecommerce on Shopify, or how to get rich on the internet by taking a survey. You do market research, a business plan, want an idea for your domain name, find a host and hope to create a website or open a shop in your image.
I’ve got bad news for you.
That will not do.
Yes, you can make (a lot of) money on the internet. But no, it’s not easy.
It’s a job. you will have to work
The good news is that in this article I am going to show you where to start your internet business.
See it as a map, a road map, a direction.
It won’t make you rich, but at least you know where to go.
PS: The concepts I’m going to talk about apply equally well to a WordPress blog (or any other CMS), an Instagram account, a Facebook page, a website, a YouTube channel, an e-commerce store or what ever . You’ll quickly see that your audience matters.
It doesn’t matter where you build it.
1. Sell online training
Selling online training courses is the web entrepreneur’s holy grail. Why ? There :
- You are in control of the sale prices and the terms of sale (we will see in the methods below that this is not always the case)
- Your margin is huge because since it’s a digital product, it costs you next to nothing to produce
- The e-learning sector is growing rapidly. You have to position yourself on that, it’s the future!
How do we do that ?
I thought it would be easier to tell you on video. You will therefore find the entire process of creating a website and selling products in the video below!
However, creating and selling e-learning training is not perfect.
Even now it will take time. You need to start by creating an interested audience (it’s long). And then you have to create the content (and that’s long too).
Then training providers sometimes have a bad reputation. They are often referred to as scammers and dream sellers. They exist, yes, but most are honest and have real skills to pass on.
Make sure you are one of them.
After all, opening a website and creating a distance learning course costs money and requires some technical skills (at least more than the methods listed below). You need to master some marketing tools to offer your students a professional experience and to connect your means of payment.
To guide you through this web marketing jungle and set up an amazing website, I wrote an article summarizing the 13 tools I use for my own online training.
2. Use advertising to make money on the Internet
Let’s move on to the most well-known way of making money on the Internet: advertising.
The best known, certainly, but by no means the most profitable of the web retailers. On the other hand.
Note: you get an average of €0.10 for 1000 views. If you want to make €1,500 a month, you need… 15 million monthly visitors. only that
If you don’t have a website like Le Monde, you won’t get there immediately (if at all).
Small clarification: This business model only applies if you can place advertising, so a priori only on your websites, blogs and YouTube. In fact, you have no control over the code of your Instagram page, for example.
how to get you there
You need traffic. Much traffic. So create content that engages.
In your virtual store you can then insert the Google Adsense codes that will distribute the advertisements.
If you go through YouTube, you can monetize your channel in a few clicks (assuming you meet certain criteria).

3. Make an online affiliate business
Affiliation is the great unknown in online business. It sells someone else’s product or service to earn a commission on the sale. They are like an independent seller but internet version.
Again, you need to start building an audience. And preferably a niche audience (in a specific niche, in a specific topic).
They then promote products that may be of interest to your community and send them to a personalized link for distance selling. It is this personalized link that allows the seller to count your scores.
When I first started membership, I had taken Emma’s little video course, which I recommend. You can find the link to register for free in the useful resources at the end of this article.
A piece of advice: You can use affiliation from the start to create your audience. As ? By putting yourself between the seller and the customer.
4. Write sponsored articles for ecommerce business
Last but not least, sponsored articles on websites (or sponsored posts if you are on social networks).
Why is ? An advertiser (brand) pays you to write content that promotes them.
You can do this by contacting the companies that interest you directly or by registering on networking platforms (like Seeding Up or Victoria Talents).
This is a method widely used on Instagram, Snapchat or YouTube, for example. If you’re interested in how this works, I recommend Magalie Berdah’s book on influence. It may seem easy at first glance, but there is very relevant information! The link is in the resources at the bottom of the article.
Here, too, you must have a specialist audience in front of you. In fact, the price at which you sell your sponsored content mainly depends on the number of people that content reaches. The larger and more specific your audience, the more you charge.
Personally, I like this method the least, as you are clearly selling your time for money. You don’t benefit from leverage to build a profitable business. This business model limits you to the 24 hours you have in the day. That’s not my idea of e-commerce.

NB: (special webshop) It is important to learn how to create a niche site and then manage its content to get a good natural referencing from search engines to create an ecommerce store.
In fact, properly referencing your new merchant website with SEO is a marketing strategy that will bring unlimited potential customers to your ecommerce blog.
