Second video on learning SEO. After last week’s general curriculum outline, let’s now tackle the topic of daily SEO news monitoring: what are the main sources of information on the ground, in English and French? And how to best manage them on a daily basis?
Learning natural referencing is a process that can be quite lengthy but must be mastered from start to finish as part of a rigorous methodology applied over time.
After last week’s general diagram, today we discuss the follow-up to the SEO news, essential to keep abreast of what is happening in the small world of search engines: what are the main sources of information, in English and French? And how can you best manage them by including them in your daily agenda? Here are some things to think about …
So you will know more by watching this video number 226:
SEO Training and Learning: News Monitoring – Video N ° 226 proposed by Olivier Andrieu (Abondance). Source: Abundance
SEO 226 video transcript: “SEO Training and Learning: Tracking the News”:
“Hello and welcome to this 226th video from Abundance where I wanted to continue talking to you about learning SEO and therefore the second part of this video series on monitoring news. Small reminder of the previous video (number 225) where I had proposed the general diagram as I see learning SEO and in this general diagram – I urge you to review the video – in this general diagram there was the continuation of the daily news, which seems to me essential in the learning, in the course of SEO learning.
What’s new, what does it mean? It really means all the SEO information that we see arriving every day, so daily news: it can obviously be algorithm updates, “core updates”, so it’s the new algorithms, algorithm changes, algorithm deletions, the new relevance criteria, that is, changes or deletions, new, modified, deleted tags, finally all search engine ads, new features or features also abandoned by the Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, the announcement of new engines – we are starting to have many now and it is interesting to see their creation, their life and their following: SEO or visibility studies, innovative tools, etc. We are not on in-depth articles such as “how to position yourself” or “how to optimize”, “how to set up an seo strategy”, that will be the next video. Here we are really on the news of the search engines.
There are sources of information, of course, and we’ll start with the official sources which are search engine blogs including Google and Bing. I’ve selected two for Google: the search blog, the information search blog, and the Webmaster Central developer blog, which has a lot of information on it. Be careful to follow the English version of this blog and not the French version, because the English version is better updated than the French version, in any case more quickly. For Microsoft Bing is the blog for webmasters. There we will already have the official sources of the search engines from which we retrieved the RSS feeds and we will see at the end of this video what we can do with them …
Then the news sources in English: there are really three that are essential, which must be followed: Search Engine Roundtable, Land and Journal. With these three, normally, we shouldn’t miss a big news. Of course it is in English, but these are actually the three most everyday sources of information and the ones that will provide the most information.
In fact, in France, apart from Abondance, I know of no other sources of information in French on the daily news – and I mean daily – on search engines, and in particular the “Actu Moteurs” newsletter. I remind you that it is a free newsletter that is sent every Thursday and that allows you to be aware of everything that has been said on the site every day of the week.
Then there is more general news about web marketing or the web in general, such as the moderator’s blog, the net journal, the small digital or Arobasenet that translates the articles of Search Engine Roundtable, but on these sites there will only be great news , there will be maybe one or two articles a week or even a month on SEO, so the great, great news that will be covered but not the good news in the newspaper. It’s up to you to see what interests you as part of this follow-up.
Once retrieved or targeted – these are some examples of sites obviously, you can add more if you want if you know others obviously no problem – what I do is collect RSS feeds from all websites and I will integrate them into the Feedly tool that I use in the free version and that is enough for my needs. It’s something I do every morning between about 7:00 and 9:00. Every morning I go to look for articles on Feedly, I have the titles and at the beginning it is enough for me. If I see that there is something that interests me, of course I will read the article. It takes a few minutes, it’s not much. Then of course I will write the articles on Abondance and it will take maybe an hour depending on the number of articles to be written, but hey that’s how I work, normally at 8 I am finished and I am starting to do the work for the clients. All the RSS feeds from all news sources – I have about a hundred but in this video I only put the main ones – are on Feedly and therefore I follow the news like this and I do not miss any information or really hyper precise, hyper information clear but normally by doing so we are really aware of what is happening every day in the SEO universe I still speak of course about SEO news.
That’s it, the next video will be on the in-depth articles I haven’t talked about today. I offer you the usual short videos on the subject. Thanks for your attention, for your loyalty, and see you soon for a new video of Abundance. Thank you and goodbye ! “
