The career of Shabir Djakiodine, at the helm of the Euro accounting firm

Chartered accountant with a degree in France, Shabir Djakiodine founded his studio in Great Britain more than 12 years ago, after an intense international career. Complete portrait in eight questions.

In what context did you set up your accountancy firm on British soil?
I studied in France, at the IAE (Institute of Business Administration), where I subsequently obtained the DESCF (Diploma of Accounting and Financial Studies) and my DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies). After three years of internship, I obtained the diploma of Chartered Accountant (DEC). I first worked in a firm in France and in Great Britain, then in a multinational in Switzerland as an auditor and tax expert at Deloitte. Very rewarding experiences and backgrounds.

For family reasons, I then returned to England where I continued to train in UK tax and law until I became a Certified Practicing Accountant. I held various positions in various multinationals before settling down and opening my own studio. A great adventure because I started in 2010 without clients. My business began little by little, in particular thanks to word of mouth and my presence in the circles of French who are well established here. Alone at the beginning, I currently work about fifteen people.

Who are your customers?
My clients are mainly expatriates, start-ups, entrepreneurs, subsidiaries of multinationals, etc. We also have professional footballers and major French institutions. They are of all nationalities. These are long-term partnerships because my customers are loyal. I have worked with some since the opening of my company. This is obviously a great source of satisfaction.

What missions do you offer?
We support our customers during the creation of their company with global support for all administrative formalities: company registration (this can also lead to consultancy for the choice of the name of the nascent structure), registration by VAT number…. Naturally, then we carry out the keeping of accounts, the presentation of annual financial statements, management accounts, consolidation, registration on the payroll, employment contracts, preparation of payslips and social procedures.

We also offer other practical services such as domiciliation, virtual office with dedicated telephone reception… At the same time, thanks to my network and my involvement, I also play the role of financial director for some of our large clients. We keep accounts from different countries for them.

Are you established elsewhere than in Great Britain?

I am also registered with the Order of Chartered Accountants in France and have a studio in France. We also help clients in Ireland, Switzerland and Hong Kong. Being our international customers, we bring them a service in different countries of the world, both through our structure, and possibly with partners.

Here the procedures are simpler than in France. It doesn’t take more than three hours to set up a company. Everything happens online, without any particular documents to sign. This lack of coercion is a real plus. This contributes to the dynamism and attractiveness of the area. On the work side, it’s the same thing. You can easily hire to carry out your projects.

The environment and the general context favor the development of the business. Very concretely, a business creator will pay his first fee at the latest 21 months after the creation of the company. There are no taxes like the CSG or the CRDS. Finally, Great Britain has more than 300,000 French residents, all potential customers of companies wishing to establish themselves.

Today we offer real know-how to our customers thanks to our technical knowledge from different countries. All our staff are bilingual, most of them multilingual. I speak four languages myself and have visited more than 100 countries which is a significant asset for exchanging with international clients.

Do you offer services other than an accounting appraisal?

A company only survives if it sells. Many entrepreneurs come from France and replicate what they do in France to the English market. However, the English culture is different, the mentality is also different. We have seen many failures because of this. We therefore support clients in their development rather than just providing them with an accounting / tax mission.

We also help them refine their marketing approach thanks to our digital marketing / SEO experts, through our company. Euro Social Media Ltd. We also help our clients invest in Great Britain by helping them find a property that will be rented out, and this through Euro Immobiliare Ltd. We search for the property in relation to the client’s budget and expectations, negotiate the price and find a lawyer (the notary does not deal with the sale in the UK), and accompany him until the keys are handed over. We then take care of finding a tenant for him and ensure the management of the property.

What are your plans for the next few years? ?

And this is where our greatest success lies! Witness, for example, a company that we have supported since its creation and which today generates more than 100 million euros in turnover and which continues to grow.

We work for many groups and organizations, such as Business France, and in the future I would like to be able to intervene and advise the major French groups even more. A legitimate wish, because we are already at the service of several companies based on the other side of the Channel, for which we take care of the accounting, budgeting and payroll production.

Our company was selected in early 2020 by the renowned investment bank Goldman Sachs, to be part of its GS 10,000 Small Business program, in partnership with the University of Oxford. Goldman Sachs selects companies with potential and high growth rates and trains entrepreneurs. The selection criteria are draconian. I obtained my diploma at the end of 2020.

To conclude Shabir, I believe that you too have received a lot of recognition in recent months …

In fact, in 2022 our accounting firm was a finalist in the last “SME National Business Awards” in the categories Business of the year And Employer of the year. Same thing in the category International business with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). Personally, I am also nominated and a finalist in the category Businessman of the year (businessman of the year). Already last year, we were already very proud to have been finalists in several categories: Best small organization (and international organization) for corporate culture And Employer of the year.

The company, which was founded in Great Britain, now provides services throughout much of Europe and beyond. Thanks to all our customers who trust us.
